About B&C Television

Goals & Philosophy

For 54 years, B & C Television has made the “service” portion of its name a top priority for customers – whether they were buying new electronics or in need of repairs.

History

Founded by William Sutman in November 1962 the store focused entirely on service. In addition to service calls, television sales were introduced in 1974 when the business relocated to its current location at the corner of Jasper and Cantrell streets. “Our staff are trained and very knowledgeable about the products they are selling,” says Greg Sutman, who along with his sister, Barb Hodges, own B & C Television now. “We offer delivery service and reliable repair service when the products need it. You won’t get that kind of service from a chain store.”

As the area’s largest licensed Sony dealer, B & C sells consumer electronics as well as acting as an authorized factory service dealership for Sony, Sharp, Samsung, LG and Panasonic. Plus, B & C offers Decatur’s oldest movie club.

The business is three generations strong as Charlotte Sutman, Greg and Barb’s mom, still works with them in the store.

We pride ourselves in being able to answer questions and talk about the vast selection of television makes and models we have in our showrooms. Customer service is so much more than selling televisions and we hope you stop in our store to experience it!

Reflections

We have had the privilege of selling and repairing televisions since 1962. And over that amount of time, things have changed! The meaning of our business name B & C Television stood for Black & White and Color Television. Today, you can’t even purchase a black and white television!

We have been selling Samsung and Sharp televisions since 2008 and Sony televisions since 1974. Sony televisions are our number one brand of televisions. We carry sets from 19 inches to 70 inches in stock. We can order an 85 inch television if you would like one!

For the older generations, do you remember when your purchase decision was based on the color of the cabinet? Or, if you wanted a remote control with your television? Today, we can’t live without a remote! Because now you can talk into the remote and it will do what you tell it to do!

Even if technology is changing there is one thing that remains the same and that is our staff and our knowledge about televisions. We can service what we sell and even service what we didn’t sell. Stop by and get to know us!
